River City Fair rescheduled due to weather 

The River City Fair, scheduled for this Saturday, has been postponed due to the forecasted nor'easter, which is expected to bring periods of strong wind and heavy rain to the region.  

The weather could result in minor flooding along the Hudson River, while strong winds would make it difficult for vendors and artists to set up and secure tents and unsafe for planned child-friendly activities including bounce houses. 

The River City Fair has been rescheduled for the rain date, Saturday, Oct. 3, at Pier A Park and along Sinatra Drive from First Street to Fifth Street, from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. 

Due to rescheduling, Dinosaurs Arise and Bateria Fogo Azul will no longer be performing.  

The City will continue to monitor forecasts and will make a subsequent announcement if weekend recreation programming is cancelled.  

Coastal Flood advisory in effect; High winds forecasted 

While weather models vary, the City and the Office of Emergency Management (OEM) continue to monitor the nor'easter, which is forecasted to impact the region this weekend.  

The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a Coastal Flood Statement for Hudson County, including Hoboken, Thursday evening through Friday morning. The advisory, which calls for the possibility of coastal flooding due to high winds, may be extended, particularly during high tide cycles.  

Upcoming high tides in our area include approximately 8:05 a.m. and 8:15 p.m. tomorrow, Friday, Sept. 25, and 8:50 a.m. and 9 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 26, when heavier rain is also anticipated. During these high tide periods, Hoboken could see flooding in the Hoboken Terminal area and along parts of Sinatra Drive which are low-lying. 

Due to anticipated high winds, OEM has advised large contractors to secure construction sites as a precaution. Residents are also reminded to secure loose objects outside or bring them indoors. 

OEM is also in communication with PSE&G, who has crews on standby in case of power outages during the storm. Residents are reminded to report any power outages to PSE&G at 1-800-436-7734 or https://nj.pseg.com/outageandgasleaks
