🚨 OCEAN TOWNSHIP OFFICE OF EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT 🚨
COASTAL STORM & FLOODING PREPARATION
Ocean Township residents should begin preparing now for the potential of strong northeast winds, heavy rain, coastal flooding and tidal flooding expected this weekend.
There is no need to panic, but now is the time to take action and secure your property.
BEFORE THE STORM:
• Remove all trash cans from the roadway and secure them in a safe location.
• Tie down or bring inside all loose items in your backyard, including furniture, decorations, umbrellas, equipment and other objects that could become airborne.
• Boat owners: Make sure your boats are properly secured and tied off. Check that bilge pumps are operational and that batteries and power sources are functioning properly.
• Residents in low-lying areas prone to flooding who are concerned about their vehicles may use alternate parking areas along Railroad Avenue and the baseball fields. Vehicles should be moved before flooding occurs. Please leave your contact information on a piece of paper on the dashboard.
DURING FLOODING:
Please avoid unnecessary travel through flooded areas. If you must travel through an area affected by flooding, slow down and use extreme caution.
Once flooding begins, areas with standing water are NO-WAKE ZONES.
Wakes can push additional water into homes, garages, yards and neighboring properties and can significantly worsen flooding conditions.
The Ocean Township Office of Emergency Management will continue to monitor conditions and provide updates as necessary.
