There is a nor’easter that will likely impact our region Friday evening into the weekend. Periods of rain, strong winds, coastal and marine impacts are likely. Residents are strongly encouraged to monitor local weather sources, as the eventual track of the system will dictate severity and duration of the impacts. One option to stay informed in a timely manner is to download the FEMA app to receive real-time weather and emergency alerts that are issued by the National Weather Service.
Pelham Manor’s Public Works crews have been actively cleaning catch basins, and will continue to do so tomorrow. Our Police and Fire departments are prepared, and are always ready to respond. If you lose power, it is imperative that notice be given directly to ConEdison. You may report and monitor power outages through their mobile app, online, or by phone 1-800-752-6633. If you see downed or sparking electrical wires, do not go near them. Assume all downed and sparking wires are electrified.
September is National Preparedness Month, before a storm is the best time to prepare for disasters and emergencies. Each household should have a plan for how they prepare for and handle various emergencies, including securing outdoor items, making a plan for vehicles, servicing generators, and building a supply kit, among other things.
