The Monroe Township Office of Emergency Management is closely monitoring a coastal storm expected to impact our area this weekend.
Periods of rain and strong winds are expected, with wind gusts up to 45 mph possible from Friday evening through early Sunday morning. These conditions may result in downed trees and power lines, scattered power outages, localized flooding, and hazardous travel conditions.
Residents are encouraged to prepare in advance:
• Secure or bring inside outdoor furniture, garbage cans, decorations, and other loose objects.
• Charge cell phones and have flashlights readily available in case of a power outage.
• Never approach a downed power line - always assume it is live.
• Never drive through a flooded roadway. Turn Around, Don't Drown.
• Use generators outdoors only and well away from windows and doors.
