FORECAST AT A GLANCE
Timing: Greatest potential for significant impacts Friday night through Sunday
Wind: Gusts of up to 60 mph under the current worst-case forecast
Rainfall: 3 to 5 inches, with locally higher amounts possible
Primary Concerns: High winds, falling trees and limbs, heavy rainfall and flooding
Key Risk: Soaking rain may saturate the ground and, when combined with high winds and leaves remaining on trees, increase the potential for trees to uproot and damage electrical equipment.

SAFETY
Always assume a downed wire is energized.
Stay away from downed wires and anything that may be in contact with them, including trees, limbs, fences or standing water.
Do not attempt to move trees or limbs that are touching or near electrical equipment.
Downed wires should be reported to JCP&L and PSE&G, and immediate hazards should also be reported to local emergency services.

COMMUNITY PREPAREDNESS
• Residents should prepare for the possibility of extended outages and difficult travel conditions.
• Charge phones, medical devices and backup batteries before conditions deteriorate.
• Keep flashlights, batteries, medications, drinking water and other essential supplies available.
• Make arrangements for anyone who relies on electrically powered medical equipment.
• Secure outdoor furniture, decorations, trash containers and other loose objects that could become airborne.
• Never use a portable generator indoors, in a garage or near doors, windows or vents. Operate generators outdoors and away from structures and follow the manufacturer’s instructions.
• Residents with generators should ensure that they are connected safely. A properly installed transfer switch is required to prevent electricity from feeding back onto the electric system and endangering utility crews.
• Residents should monitor official weather, emergency management and JCP&L and PSE&G communications throughout the event.
