Dear Residents,
A nor’easter is expected to impact our area beginning tomorrow, bringing periods of heavy rain and strong winds. Residents are encouraged to prepare now and use caution throughout the storm.
In advance of the storm, the Clark Department of Public Works has been working throughout the Township to clear catch basins and remove remaining branches and debris from Township streets to help improve drainage and reduce potential hazards.
Residents can help too. If it is safe to do so, please take a moment before the storm arrives to check the catch basin near your home. Leaves, branches and other debris lying on top of a catch basin can prevent water from draining quickly during periods of heavy rainfall. Removing loose debris from the surface can help keep water moving and reduce street flooding. Please do not attempt to remove grates or reach into catch basins.
Before and During the Storm
Residents are encouraged to:
- Secure outdoor furniture, decorations, garbage cans and other loose items that could be moved by strong winds.
- Make sure cell phones and other necessary devices are fully charged.
- Avoid unnecessary travel during periods of heavy rain or high winds.
- Never drive through flooded roadways. Turn around and find an alternate route.
- Stay away from downed trees, wires and utility equipment. Always assume a downed wire is energized.
- Keep generators outdoors and well away from doors, windows and garages.
- Check on elderly or vulnerable neighbors when it is safe to do so.
