The Point Pleasant Beach Police Department advises all residents to prepare for severe weather conditions, including strong winds, heavy rain, possible power outages, and coastal flooding, especially in low-lying and back bay areas. Sustained winds of 30-40 MPH with gusts up to 60 MPH are possible.
A State of Emergency will take effect at 5:00 PM today for Ocean County and several neighboring New Jersey counties.
Safety Precautions: • Do not drive through flooded roadways or around barricades. Turn Around, Don't Drown.
• Stay away from downed trees, utility poles, and power lines. Always assume downed wires are energized.
• Secure or bring indoors outdoor furniture, decorations, trash containers, and other loose objects.
• Charge cell phones and essential devices and prepare for possible power outages.
• Avoid unnecessary travel during periods of severe weather.
Residents in low-lying and flood-prone areas are encouraged to move vehicles to higher ground. As a precaution, the Point Pleasant Beach Train Station parking lot is available for vehicle parking.
