Storm Advisory: Nor'easter Affecting Deal This Weekend
A strong nor'easter will affect our area from tonight through Sunday, and into Monday in some areas. Governor Sherrill has declared a State of Emergency in eight counties, including Monmouth County. The Borough is working with the Monmouth County Office of Emergency
Management, and the Department of Public Works and Police Department are prepared to respond.
What to Expect
Coastal flooding: A Coastal Flood Warning is in effect through 2:00 p.m. Sunday.
Tomorrow morning's high tide is expected to reach major flood stage, with 1 to 2 feet of
water possible in low-lying areas. Later high tides may still cause moderate flooding.
Heavy rain: 3 to 5 inches of rain is expected by Monday morning, starting this evening.
Drainage may be slow, and sewer backups are possible during high tide.
Strong winds: Gusts of up to 60 mph are possible, which may bring down trees and
power lines.
Dangerous surf: Waves of up to 12 feet and a high rip current risk are expected. Please
stay off the beach and boardwalk.
Safety Reminders
Treat all downed wires as live. Stay at least 30 feet away, and keep children and pets
away. Never touch a downed wire or anything in contact with it, including water, fences,
or tree limbs.
Do not drive or walk through flooded streets. Just a few inches of moving water can
sweep away a person or vehicle. Turn around, don't drown.
Secure outdoor items such as patio furniture, trash cans, and decorations.
Move vehicles out of flood-prone areas before tomorrow morning's high tide.
Prepare for outages: Charge phones and have flashlights, batteries, water, and any
needed medications on hand.

Please do not call the Deal Police Department to report power outages. Report outages directly to JCP&L at 1-888-544-4877 or online at firstenergycorp.com/outages. JCP&L has 900
personnel on standby throughout the county to restore power.
