As most residents are aware, our area is being impacted by a Nor’easter that is expected to continue through approximately Sunday evening. This storm is far from over, with additional bands of heavy rain and periods of strong winds expected to continue through tomorrow. The storm has the potential to bring several inches of rain, along with strong winds and gusts of up to 45 mph.

For Millstone residents, wind-related power outages remain one of our biggest concerns during severe weather events. Please keep the following safety reminders in mind:

• Treat all downed wires as if they are live.If you encounter a downed wire, stay away and call 9-1-1 to report it.

• Do not drive around cones, barricades, or caution tape. These measures are in place to protect you and everyone traveling on our roadways.

• Avoid unnecessary travel whenever possible, particularly during periods of heavy rain and strong winds.

Jersey Central Power & Light has brought in hundreds of personnel from out of state and has staged additional equipment in preparation for potential outages and other storm-related issues.

Our Township Fire Department, Public Works, Administration, and Office of Emergency Management (OEM) are prepared to respond to and address any matters that may arise. Additional emergency responders will be utilized if the volume of incidents requires additional resources.

Residents should remain alert and continue to exercise caution throughout the duration of the storm. Conditions can change quickly, and additional rainfall and strong winds may result in localized flooding, downed trees, roadway hazards, and power outages.

Please continue to monitor weather conditions and official Township updates, and avoid unnecessary travel when conditions are hazardous.

Lastly, please stay safe and be patient throughout the weekend as our emergency personnel and utility crews respond to incidents. Check in with your neighbors, friends, and others who may need assistance during the storm.
