A National Weather Service (NWS) Coastal Flood Warning and Wind Advisory remain in effect for Hoboken due to a nor’easter impacting the region.   

Coastal flooding is likely at low-lying areas of the waterfront. Flooding may also be possible in western Hoboken due to rain or significant storm surge from the Hudson River.  

Coastal Flood warning in effect; Waterfront Walkway closed  

A Coastal Flood Warning is in effect through 6 p.m. tonight. Forecasts indicate minor to moderate flooding at low-lying parts of the Hoboken waterfront with 2 to 3 feet of inundation possible.  

Flooding on the waterfront is particularly possible during high tide times. Today’s high tides are approximately 9:25 a.m. and 9:45 p.m.   

Closure of the waterfront walkway, Maxwell Park, Pier A, Pier C, and Sinatra Park has been extended until 6 p.m. 

Sinatra Drive between Fourth Street and Sinatra Drive North will be closed to all traffic by the Hoboken Police Department as needed, if the road becomes covered in water.  

Properties along the waterfront with deployable flood barriers should consider deploying them to protect property from potential storm surge throughout the nor’easter.  

Low-lying areas may flood   

Rain is expected to continue throughout today, and peak heavy rainfall is possible. Low-lying areas of Hoboken can experience flooding if the city gets more than 0.8 inches of rain per hour.   

The Office of Emergency Management will deploy barricades as necessary. DO NOT drive around or move barricades. They are deployed for your safety. Floodwaters can be deeper than they appear and cause vehicles to stall, impacting emergency response times.

Secure Loose Objects; Report downed trees and power outages  

A Wind Advisory is in effect through 12 p.m. today, with sustained winds up to 25 mph and localized gusts up to 45 mph possible. Winds can blow unsecured objects, down tree limbs, and cause power outages.   

Please report downed trees to the Hoboken Fire Department at 201-420-2004 and any power outages to PSE&G at 1-800-436-7734 or https://nj.pseg.com/outageandgasleaks.      

Residents are reminded to secure all loose objects outside or bring them inside and charge all necessary devices.   

Heavy winds can also impact driving. Please allow extra travel time and use caution if driving. Residents are encouraged to stay home and limit travel if possible.  

Weekend Cancellations & closures  

City recreation programs have been cancelled for today. 

Reminder: Limited Boil Water Advisory LIFTED 

The localized Boil Water Advisory was lifted last night, after quality testing showed that water quality met all regulatory standards.  

Impacted residents are reminded to:  

• Run your water faucets for 3-5 minutes to flush your service connection and interior plumbing with water from the service main.  
• Empty and clean your automatic ice makers and water chillers.  
• Drain and refill your hot water heater if the temperature is set below 113 degrees Fahrenheit.  
• Service connections with a water softener/cartridge filter should be run through a regeneration cycle or other procedures recommended by the manufacturer.   
• Water reservoirs in tall buildings should be drained and refilled (as applicable).
