Longtime Ho-Ho-Kus resident and local historian Michael Reade recently donated $500 to the Ho-Ho-Kus Library Foundation, representing proceeds from the Ho-Ho-Kus Short Story Collection at this year’s Ho-Ho-Kus Day/America 250 celebration.
Created and compiled by Mike, the two-volume collection captures the remarkably rich history of Ho-Ho-Kus, from the 1780 British attack and the centuries-old Ho-Ho-Kus Inn to The Hermitage, a National Historic Landmark, the devastating 1882 flood, the Ho-Ho-Kus Race Track and much more. It offers a fascinating look at more than three centuries of our community’s past.
Mike generously donated 250 sets of the premier edition to the Foundation, with 100% of the proceeds benefiting the proposed new Ho-Ho-Kus Public Library. Sets are still available at Ho-Ho-Kus Borough Hall for a $20 donation (cash only, please!). We are deeply grateful to Mike for his generosity and for his dedication to preserving and sharing Ho-Ho-Kus history.
