63 Drivers Cited During Pedestrian Safety Operation 
Redwood City, California. – The Redwood City Police Department conducted a Pedestrian Safety Operation on 09/28/2026.
The recent Pedestrian Safety Operation conducted by the Redwood City Police Department Motor Unit, was a proactive enforcement effort aimed at enhancing pedestrian safety in the community. This operation, funded by the OTS (Office of Traffic Safety) Grant, focuses on reducing pedestrian-related accidents by ensuring that drivers obey traffic laws, particularly yielding to pedestrians in crosswalks.
The Redwood City Police Department Motor Unit issued 63 citations for 21950(a) CVC: (Driver failed to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk), and/or 21951(a) CVC (passing a vehicle stopped for a pedestrian in a crosswalk), as well as several citations for using a cellphone while driving, improper lane change, driving on the wrong side of the road and driving without a valid driver license.
The operation took place at the intersection of El Camino Real and Finger St in Redwood City from 8:00 AM to 2:30 PM.
Funding for this program was provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
