INCIDENT: Major Injury Traffic Collision
LOCATION: Navajo Road / Ottawa Road, Apple Valley
DRIVER #1: Nicole Weiner, 33-year-old female, Resident of Apple Valley
VEHICLE #1: Ford F250 pickup
PEDESTRIAN: Louis Guzman, 63-year-old male, Resident of Apple Valley
SUMMARY: On Monday, September 28, 2026, at about 7:38 p.m., deputies with the Apple Valley Station, along with rescue personnel from the Apple Valley Fire Protection District, responded near the intersection of Navajo Road and Ottawa Road regarding a vehicle versus pedestrian collision.
Upon arrival, deputies located the pedestrian, identified as Louis Guzman, who sustained major injuries. Through the course of the investigation, deputies determined Guzman was crossing Navajo Road when he was struck by a vehicle traveling southbound on Navajo Road.
The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation. At this time, drugs or alcohol do not appear to be a factor in the collision.
Guzman was transported to a local hospital for treatment of his injuries. The investigation remains ongoing.
