Meridian Anti-Drug Coalition and Republic Services Partner for DEA Sponsored Prescription Drug Take-Back Event
MERIDIAN, ID – The Meridian Anti-Drug Coalition (MADC), in collaboration with Republic Services, invites community members to participate in the upcoming Prescription Drug Take-Back Event on Saturday, October 24, 2026, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The event will be held at Republic Services, 2130 W. Franklin Rd., Meridian, ID.
This drive-through event offers a secure and responsible way to dispose of expired, unused, and unwanted prescription medications, helping prevent them from falling into the wrong hands or harming the environment. The event is part of the DEA’s National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day, a nationwide effort to combat prescription drug misuse and prevent potential abuse.
Why Participate?
Prescription drug misuse can begin at home. Safely disposing of medications that are no longer needed is a simple and effective way to reduce access to potentially dangerous medications and help prevent misuse.
Community members are encouraged to take this opportunity to clean out medicine cabinets and safely dispose of medications they no longer need. During last year’s Fall and Spring Take-Back Days, residents safely disposed of 1,246 pounds of medication. This number highlights the ongoing importance of safe medication disposal and community collaboration.
