OPD NEWS:
A community member’s call to the Oakland Police Department (OPD) Drug Hotline led to the arrest of a Bay Area firearm trafficker and manufacturer.
On September 22, 2026, officers from the OPD Intelligence Unit directed the Crime Reduction Team (CRT) West to the 500 block of 23rd Avenue, where they detained the suspect during a vehicle stop. A loaded firearm and narcotics packaged for street distribution were recovered from the vehicle.
A follow-up search warrant was executed at the suspect’s residence, resulting in the seizure of equipment used to manufacture privately made firearms, referred to as “ghost guns.” Additional items recovered included firearm and ghost gun parts, multiple handguns, assault rifles, ammunition, narcotics, and equipment for producing counterfeit credit cards and checks, such as embossers and blank cards.
The case was presented to the Alameda County District Attorney’s Office, which charged the suspect with multiple offenses related to the investigation.
