SUSPECT(S): Rebecca Centeno, 45-years-old, Resident of Tulare, CA
VICTIM 1: Confidential Juvenile
VICTIM 2: 50-year-old Male Adult
SUMMARY:
On Thursday, October 1, 2026, at about 6:17 p.m., deputies responded to a residence and learned the suspect, Rebecca Centeno, arrived at the victim’s residence. She attempted contact at the front door and then moved to the back of the residence. She opened a window and grabbed one of her children to whom she had no rights to, per a court order. The child’s father attempted to grab the child to prevent her from being taken. Centeno pulled the child out the window and took the father’s cell phone before getting into a vehicle and driving away.
The suspect vehicle was located on ALPRs and through further investigation, it was ultimately determined to be at a hotel in San Bernardino. The Sheriff’s Specialized Enforcement Division contacted Centeno in a room at the hotel and took her into custody. The child was safely rescued and reunited with the custodial parent. Centeno was booked at the Central Detention Center where she was later released on bail.
