UPDATE - Police Seek Help Identifying Shooting Suspects
Newark Public Safety Director Emanuel Miranda, Sr., requests the public’s help in identifying the pictured male and female suspects in connection with a shooting that occurred on Thursday, October 1, 2026.
At approximately 12:55 p.m., Police responded to the 700 block of South 10thStreet near Madison Avenue on a call of a shooting. Responding Officers observed evidence of a shooting at the location, but did not locate a victim. As part of the investigation, detectives determined that a Black male wearing a white tank top, who was walking southbound on Clinton Avenue, pointed and discharged a firearm at a man who was riding an e-bike in the area.
The female suspect was with the male suspect when a quarrel occurred between two males, and the firearm was discharged. She is described as having a light complexion with brown hair and blonde highlights. She was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, black pants with white lettering on the front left leg, and white sneakers.
Director Miranda urges anyone with information about either of these suspects' identities to call the Police Division’s 24-hour Crime Stopper tip line at 1-877-NWK-TIPS(1-877-695-8477). All anonymous Crime Stopper tips are kept confidential and could result in a reward.
