The West Windsor Police Department is advising residents that scheduled training activities at Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst may result in increased noise and vibrations that can be heard and/or felt in our area during October.
🔴 HIGH NOISE DAY: Thursday, October 8
According to the Joint Base MDL October Noise Calendar, October 8 is designated as a high-noise training day. Residents may hear loud booms and potentially feel vibrations associated with military training and the use of munitions.
Please remember that weather conditions and cloud cover can affect how far sound travels, so on certain days the activity may sound louder or closer than expected.
🐾 PET SAFETY REMINDER
Sudden loud noises and vibrations can be frightening for our four-legged family members. During high-noise training:
• Keep pets indoors whenever possible.
• Close windows and doors to help reduce outside noise.
• Use a television, radio, fan, or white noise to help mask sudden booms.
• Give pets access to a quiet, secure area where they can retreat and feel safe.
• Make sure collars, identification tags, and microchip information are current in case a frightened pet gets loose.
• Watch for signs of stress, including pacing, hiding, shaking, panting or whining.
• If your pet has significant noise anxiety, consider speaking with your veterinarian in advance about appropriate calming strategies.
This is scheduled military training associated with the Joint Base mission and military readiness.
