INCIDENT: Major Injury Traffic Collision
LOCATION: Amethyst Road and Bear Valley Road, Victorville
PEDESTRIAN: 13-year-old female
SUMMARY: On Sunday, October 4, 2026, at about 7:58 p.m., deputies from Victorville Station responded to the intersection of Amethyst Road and Bear Valley Road regarding a traffic collision involving a pedestrian.
The preliminary investigation determined a mother and her two children entered the roadway from the east side of Amethyst Road near a shopping center driveway. As the family entered the roadway, a white Kia Sorento was traveling southbound on Amethyst Road.
The driver of the Kia attempted to avoid the pedestrians in the southbound traffic lane. The mother and one male juvenile were able to cross the roadway; however, a 13-year-old female was struck by the Kia.
The driver stopped and rendered aid to the injured juvenile. The 13-year-old female was transported by CONFIRE EMS to Loma Linda University Medical Center in critical condition.
The driver and several witnesses remained at the scene and cooperated with the preliminary investigation. Alcohol was not found to be a factor in the collision.
