Two Fatalities Following Plane Crash near Rooster Run Golf Course
This morning, October 7, 2026, at approximately 10:40 AM, the Petaluma Police Department responded to a report of a plane crash at Rooster Run Golf Course.
Officers arrived on scene and located a small, downed airplane that was fully engulfed in flames. The Petaluma Fire Department arrived and extinguished the fire. Officers located two deceased people inside the aircraft.
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) were notified and have assumed investigative authority for the incident.
Community members are asked to avoid the immediate area and allow emergency personnel and investigators to safely conduct their work.
Because the FAA and NTSB will be leading the investigation, any additional information regarding the aircraft, circumstances surrounding the crash, identities of those involved, or cause of the crash will be released through their channels as information becomes available.
Our thoughts are with the families and loved ones of those involved in this tragic incident.
