City of Saluda – Storm Advisory

Heavy rainfall and strong winds are expected across Polk County this weekend, October 10-11. 

The National Weather Service is forecasting approximately 3–4 inches of rain in portions of the Saluda area, with potential for localized flooding. 

Residents are encouraged to take the following precautions:

  • Clear leaves and debris from ditches, drains, and downspouts.

  • Secure outdoor furniture, decorations, and other loose items.

  • Avoid driving through flooded roads.

  • Stay alert for downed trees and power lines.

The City of Saluda is taking precautions to manage stormwater runoff and secure the Wastewater Treatment Plant ahead of the storm.

Rainfall totals of 3–4 inches are forecast along portions of the Blue Ridge Escarpment, including Brevard, Tryon, and Marion, where localized flash flooding is a concern. Totals of 1.5–3 inches are expected across much of Upstate South Carolina and northeast Georgia, with generally 1–2 inches across the North Carolina Piedmont. Compared to the previous forecast, rainfall amounts have decreased across the Piedmont but increased along the Blue Ridge Escarpment.
