29 Mile Rd closed between Van Dyke & Jewell due to crash and power outage. Avoid area, including Mound Rd. 
TRAFFIC ALERT – 29 MILE ROAD CLOSURE & POWER OUTAGE
The Macomb County Sheriff’s Office, Washington Township Fire Department, and DTE Energy crews are on scene and actively responding to a serious incident on 29 Mile Road between Van Dyke Road and Jewell Road.
Construction equipment being transported on a trailer struck a transformer and utility pole, causing a power outage. A semi-truck also struck several utility poles and is currently trapped at the scene.
AVOID THE AREA, including the intersection of 29 Mile Road and Jewell Road. Please use alternate routes and allow emergency responders and utility crews the space they need to work safely.
ROMEO COMMUNITY SCHOOLS – EARLY DISMISSAL & PHONE ISSUES
- High school students: Romeo Community Schools will begin releasing high school students after 1:15 p.m., once buses arrive, for early dismissal.
- Indian Hills and Hevel Elementary: Schools are experiencing phone issues. Parents may pick up their children at any time or allow students to follow their normal bus pickup or drop-off schedule.
We appreciate everyone's patience and cooperation as emergency responders and DTE crews work to resolve the situation and restore power.
Please stay safe, avoid the affected area, and follow directions from emergency personnel until the area is safe for travel.
