Public Safety Power Shutoff in portions of Madera County
PG&E has advised that it may initiate a Public Safety Power Shutoff in portions of Madera County due to weather conditions. The decision to shut off power, including which areas are affected and when service is restored, is made solely by PG&E, not Madera County or the Sheriff’s Office.
The potential shutoff is scheduled to begin tonight, October 14, around 11 p.m., with power estimated to be restored Saturday, October 17, around noon. Potentially affected communities include Bass Lake, North Fork, Oakhurst, Ahwahnee, O'Neals and Coarsegold.
The Madera County Sheriff's Office will increase patrols in affected areas. Residents can charge electronic devices at the Oakhurst Sheriff's Substation, 48267 Liberty Drive. Hours are Thursday and Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
We are asking you to prepare now. Charge devices, gather emergency supplies and make backup plans for medical equipment requiring electricity.
Not all addresses will be affected. PG&E is responsible for the shutoff and restoration of power. Check your address and outage updates at pge.com/pspsupdates.
If you need assistance, contact the Sheriff’s Office at 559-675-7770.
