Wilmington Police have arrested a man in connection to a burglary spree following an investigation.
Throughout the months of September and October, members of the Uniformed Services Division responded to several burglary incidents that occurred in the areas of the 100 block of East 25th Street, the 2900 block of North Van Buren Street and the 400 block of West 29th Street. The cases were assigned to Detective Joran Merced of the Criminal Investigations Division. Through the course of his investigation Detective Merced identified 45-year-old Alexis Martinez as the suspect involved in these incidents and obtained warrants for his arrest.
On October 9th, members of the Uniformed Services Division located Martinez who was taken into custody without incident. Officers confirmed Martinez also had an outstanding warrant by the Delaware State Police.
Martinez has been charged with the following offenses in addition to his outstanding warrant:
- Burglary (Third Degree)- 3 Counts
- Criminal Mischief Under $1,000-3 Counts
- Conspiracy (Second Degree)
- Theft Under $1,500- 2 Counts
He was arraigned in the Justice of the Peace Court 02 and committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on $5,800 cash-only bail.
