SUMMARY: On July 2, 2026, a residential burglary occurred in the 22000 block of Main Street in the City of Grand Terrace. Detectives from the Central Station Detective Bureau assumed the investigation and developed investigative leads through surveillance footage and automated license plate reader (ALPR) technology.
During the investigation, detectives coordinated with multiple law enforcement agencies throughout Southern California and identified connections to a South American Theft Group (SATG), an organized criminal group involved in residential burglaries throughout Southern California. The suspects were believed to be using sophisticated tools and techniques to commit residential burglaries.
ALPR technology played a critical role in the investigation, providing detectives with valuable information which helped identify the suspect and establish connections between multiple residential burglaries. The information obtained through ALPR technology, combined with investigative efforts and collaboration between law enforcement agencies, was instrumental in identifying the suspect and advancing the investigation.
Through their investigative efforts and collaboration with partnering agencies, detectives identified a suspect connected to the Grand Terrace burglary. Further investigation linked the same suspect to two additional residential burglaries in the City of Yucaipa that occurred shortly before the Grand Terrace incident.
On October 15, 2026, detectives served a search warrant in Los Angeles County, resulting in the recovery of evidence associated with the Grand Terrace burglary, along with additional property believed to have been stolen. As a result of the investigation, Edgar Andres Barrera Parra, a 22-year-old, resident of Colombia, was arrested and booked at the Central Detention Center.
