Reminder: Hudson Place to reopen Monday, Oct. 19; Hudson Street to close between Observer Hwy and Hudson Place
Residents are reminded that Hudson Place is scheduled to reopen to vehicular and pedestrian traffic by 5 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 19. Bike lanes will remain closed temporarily, taxi pick up and drop off will temporarily remain on Newark Street, and Hop pick up and drop off will remain on River Street.
Completed work includes the water main replacement and street repaving. The improvements will help strengthen the resiliency of the City’s drinking water infrastructure and enhance multi-modal safety near the Hoboken Terminal.
When Hudson Place reopens on Monday, Oct. 19, Hudson Street will be closed to all vehicular traffic between Observer Highway and Hudson Place for the next phase of construction. Access to Observer Highway between Washington Street and Hudson Street will be restricted to NJ Transit buses and police personnel only. All other drivers traveling east on Observer Highway will be directed onto Washington Street. Drivers that do not need to travel to the Hoboken Terminal area are encouraged to avoid Hudson Street south of Fourth Street.
Pedestrian access along Hudson Street will be maintained during this phase of the project, although temporary detours may occur as needed. Drivers are encouraged to avoid the area if possible or allow extra travel time for detours and temporary traffic disruptions.
Police officers will be on site during construction hours, to assist with detours and ensure pedestrian safety.
