Calls from the community led to an arrest and seizure of firearms. On October 17, 2026, the Oakland Police Department Communications Division received multiple calls reporting a person firing a gun in a yard on the 600 block of Almanza Drive.
Officers from East Oakland Area 6 Patrol responded and took an Oakland man into custody without incident. Officers seized two firearms, body armor, ammunition, and a loaded magazine.
OPD thanks community members who called, allowing officers to act quickly. Their reports helped officers respond and remove dangerous weapons from the street.
