ORIGINAL MESSAGE, 10/20:
The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a Flood Watch for most of Kern County, including Bear Valley Springs, from Wednesday morning, Oct. 21, through Thursday evening, Oct. 22.
Rain is forecast to begin in our area between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. Wednesday and continue through Thursday night. Up to half an inch of rain is possible Wednesday night.
Heavy rain could lead to excessive runoff and flash flooding, especially in low-lying and flood-prone areas.
Stay alert and use extreme caution around floodwaters. Just a few inches of fast-moving water can knock a person off their feet or even move a vehicle. Never drive or walk through floodwaters.
