Suspect Arrested in Felony Hit and Run Investigation with assistance from ALPR Technology
On September 30th, at approximately 7:04 PM, Culver City Police Officers, along with members of the Fire Department received a radio call of an injury hit and run traffic collision involving a vehicle versus a pedestrian at the intersection of National Boulevard and Wesley Avenue.
Emergency personnel quickly responded to the scene and located a victim in the roadway with significant injuries. The victim was transported to a local hospital by members of the Culver City Fire Department where he remains in critical condition with severe injuries.
Traffic accident investigators responded to the scene and conducted a criminal investigation.
Investigators interviewed several witnesses who stated that an early 2000’s model, Toyota Sequoia, tan or gray in color, was traveling southbound on National Blvd in the number two lane at a high rate of speed. Once the vehicle approached the intersection of Wesley Avenue, the driver ran a solid red light at approximately 50 miles per hour and struck a pedestrian who was in the crosswalk. After striking the pedestrian, the driver continued southbound on National Blvd and then turned westbound on Schaefer Street, out of sight.
Using Automated License Plate Reader (ALPR) technology, investigators were able to identify the vehicle involved in the hit-and-run, providing a critical lead in the investigation. Through additional investigative efforts, detectives identified Damaria Moore, a 29-year-old Los Angeles resident, as the driver responsible for striking the victim and fleeing the scene.
On 10/19/26, CCPD Detectives located Moore and he was placed under arrest for VC 20001(a) (Felony Hit and Run).
On 10/21/26, the Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office filed felony hit and run charges on Moore.
