On Thursday, October 22, 2026, at approximately 12:28 PM Santa Maria Police Department (SMPD) Officers responded to the area of 1900 S. Lincoln regarding the report of two subjects with firearms. An SMPD Traffic Officer subsequently located a vehicle reportedly associated with the subjects, near the area of Newlove and Broadway.
SMPD Officers conducted a stop on the vehicle and detained the occupants, who were known gang members, without incident. A search of the vehicle resulted in the discovery of two loaded firearms.
Both subjects, who were identified as 26-year-old Manuel Sanchez and 19-year-old Fabian Ugo, were arrested and booked at the Santa Barbara County Northern Branch Jail for multiple firearms-related charges.
