Advisory
Damage to our network from theft and vandalism, including cuts to fiber and copper facilities, is affecting 9-1-1 call routing for some AT&T customers in the Oakland area. Calls are going through but have been rerouted to the Alameda County Sheriff.
Our technicians have been on site since last night and are working as quickly as possible to repair the damage and restore normal 9-1-1 call routing. We understand the importance of reliable access to emergency services and remain engaged with our public safety partners as restoration work continues.
Copper theft and vandalism of communications infrastructure are serious criminal matters that can disrupt services for customers, public safety and the community at large. The public should report to police any unmarked vehicles or individuals cutting or removing cable.
The City of Oakland provided an update on the 911 service outage.
