On Thursday, October 22, 2026, at approximately 6:31 p.m., the Monterey Park Police Department responded to the 200 block of S. Atlantic Blvd regarding a report of an attempted kidnapping where the suspect was armed with a knife.
Upon arrival Monterey Park Police Officers located an individual matching the suspect’s description from the attempted kidnapping and attempted to make contact. The suspect was armed with a knife and an officer involved shooting occurred.
Officers rendered aid to the suspect pending the arrival of Monterey Park Fire Department. Upon their arrival, the Monterey park Fire Department provided additional medical treatment and transported the suspect to a local hospital where he is in stable condition.
No Monterey Park Police Officers or other members of the public were injured during the incident.

NARRATIVE:
Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Homicide Investigators are responding to assist Monterey Park Police Department regarding an officer-involved shooting. The incident occurred on Thursday, October 22, 2026, at approximately 6:31 p.m., on the 200 Block South Atlantic Blvd, East Los Angeles.
The suspect was struck by gunfire and transported to a local hospital.
No officers were injured during the incident.
