Detective Derrick McGinnis with the McDowell County Sheriff’s Office charged 48-year-old Jason Dewayne Nanney of Marion with felony Conversion. He was issued a secured bond of $10,000.
On June 26, Lt. Gioia Hollands received a report about a stolen lawn mower. The victim stated he allowed Nanney to borrow his mower, estimated to be worth $8,000, several months prior to the report but it was never returned. The victim also stated he had made repeated attempts to retrieve the mower and that he was told by Nanney that it was no longer in his possession.
An investigation by Det. Derrick McGinnis confirmed that Nanney was responsible for the incident and charges were filed. He was arrested on Oct. 15.
