TRINITY COUNTY BURN BAN NOW IN EFFECT ![]()
October 27, 2026 | 10:00 AM
The Trinity County Sheriff’s Office would like to notify residents that the Trinity County Commissioners Court has issued a BURN BAN effective immediately for all unincorporated areas of Trinity County.
Due to current dry conditions and the increased risk of wildfires, outdoor burning is prohibited for up to 90 days unless the order is lifted earlier.
WHAT IS PROHIBITED:
Burning brush piles
Open burning of leaves and yard debris
Land clearing fires
Other unauthorized outdoor burning
WHAT IS STILL ALLOWED:
Burn Barrels: Household trash may be burned in an above-ground enclosure provided:
* The enclosure has a screen.
* An adult 18 or older is present at all times.
* A water source is within 10 feet.
Outdoor Cooking: Contained grills and fire pits are permitted with a water source nearby. Coals and ashes must be extinguished with water after cooking.
Certain agricultural, utility, firefighter training, and certified prescribed burning activities are exempt under the order.
VIOLATIONS: Failure to comply with the burn ban is a Class C misdemeanor, punishable by a fine of up to $500.
We ask everyone to use common sense and exercise caution. Our volunteer fire departments work hard to protect our communities, and preventing unnecessary fires helps keep them and our residents safe.
If you see a wildfire or an uncontrolled fire, call 911 immediately.
