Fatal Crash in Cass County MI
Sheriff Clint Roach reports that on October 26, 2026, at approximately 1330 hours, Deputies from the Cass County Sheriff's Office responded to a Fatal two car accident at the intersection of Mason St and Calvin Center Rd, Mason Township Cass County, Michigan.
The investigation showed that 77-year-old Elsie Levan, driver of a Nissan Rogue, was traveling eastbound on Mason St and failed to yield to the right of way after stopping at the intersection. The Nissan was struck on the driver's side by a Toyota Highlander driven by 38-year-old Andrew Habich, who was traveling southbound on Calvin Center Rd. Seatbelts were worn by both subjects. Alcohol and drugs do not appear to be a causing factor.
Levan was pronounced deceased at the scene due to injuries sustained in the crash.
Assisting agencies were SEPSA Ambulance, Michigan State Police, and Cass County Victim Service Unit.
The incident remains under investigation.
