HALLOWEEN SAFETY ALERT – CHALFONTE CONSTRUCTION ZONE

The Grosse Pointe Farms Department of Public Safety reminds all trick-or-treaters and parents to use extra caution on Halloween night, 10/31/2026, in the Chalfonte area, including nearby side streets such as Barclay, Lexington, and surrounding streets. These areas remain affected by construction related to the City’s Sewer Separation Project.

Please be aware of the following potential hazards:

• Streetlights may be out due to ongoing construction.
• Construction equipment and vehicles may be present.
• Open holes, uneven pavement, and sidewalk hazards may create dangerous walking conditions.

Safety Reminders:

• Carry a flashlight and remain alert while walking.
• Stay on safe, accessible sidewalks and avoid construction areas.
• Children should be accompanied by a responsible adult.
• Drivers should slow down and watch carefully for children, especially in areas with limited lighting.

Please exercise extra caution when traveling through the Chalfonte construction zone and surrounding neighborhoods. Let’s work together to keep everyone safe this Halloween. Our Public Safety Department will conduct extra patrols in the area and provide citywide Halloween coverage.

Have a safe and happy Halloween!
