VICTIM(S): Confidential

SUMMARY: On June 8th, 2026, at approximately 2:26 a.m., deputies from the Fontana Sheriff's Station responded to the 2500 block of North Arctic Dr., in the community of San Antonio Heights, in reference to a shooting.

Upon arrival deputies found the victim suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.  The victim was transported to Pomona Valley Medical Center for treatment.  Detectives from the Fontana Sheriff's Station assumed the investigation and learned the shooting stemmed from an argument.

Through investigation, Detectives identified the shooting suspect as Andres Cruz.  As the investigation continued, detectives learned that immediately after the shooting, Cruz was taken to the Metrolink Station in Montclair by Gabriel Magana.

On June 30th, 2026, Magana was arrested for being an accessory after the fact.  Magana was booked into the West Valley Detention Center and was subsequently released on bail.

Investigators served multiple search warrants; however, Cruz was not located.  Detectives obtained evidence showing that Cruz was driven into Mexico by his mother, Belle Marin, approximately one week after the shooting. Investigators obtained a full extradition arrest warrant for Cruz.

For several months Fontana Sheriff’s Station detectives and detectives with the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department Specialized Enforcement Division, worked to develop leads on Cruz’s whereabouts in Mexico.  The United States Marshals Service Southern District of California (S/CA), Mexico Investigative Liaison Team, worked in tandem with the Mexico Secretaria de Seguridad y Proteccion Ciudadana (SSPC), to physically locate Cruz.  The collaboration was successful and on October 18th, 2026, Cruz was taken into custody in Tijuana, Mexico.

Fontana Sheriff’s Detectives took custody of Cruz at the San Ysidro Border Crossing with the assistance of United States Marshals.  Cruz was transported back to San Bernardino County and booked into the West Valley Detention Center where he is being held without bail.

On October 19th, 2026, Cruz’s mother, Belle Marin, was arrested as an accessory after the fact and was booked into the West Valley Detention Center where she is being held on $500,000 bail.
