Reminder - Set Clocks Back Sunday and Check Smoke and CO Detectors
Daylight saving time ends this Sunday, November 1, at 2am. Before you go to bed Saturday night, set your clocks back one hour.
The time change is also a good reminder to check the smoke and carbon monoxide (CO) detectors in your home. Working alarms give your household the earliest possible warning in an emergency.
- Test every smoke and CO detector by pressing the test button.
- Replace the batteries if needed, or if the alarm is chirping.
- Replace any smoke alarm that is more than 10 years old. Replace CO alarms according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
- Make sure there is a working smoke alarm on every level of your home and outside each sleeping area, and a CO alarm near sleeping areas.
As the weather gets colder and heating systems come back into use, working detectors matter even more. A few minutes of checking this weekend helps keep you, your family, and your neighbors safe.
