Newark Public Safety Director Emanuel Miranda, Sr., announces that the following streets will be closed during the hours below due to the City of Newark’s Drive-Up and Go Food Distribution event:
Beginning at 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. – Wednesday, November 4, 2026
• Elizabeth Ave. between Meeker Ave. and Lehigh Ave.
• Custer Ave. between Peshine Ave. and Elizabeth Ave.
• Renner Ave. between Peshine Ave. and Elizabeth Ave.
• Scheerer Ave. between Hunterdon St. and Renner Ave.
• Mapes Ave. between Mapes Pl. and Elizabeth Ave.

The food drive begins at 10 a.m. and will be held at Elizabeth Ave. and Renner Ave.
Drivers are advised to anticipate delays and plan alternate routes.
Director Miranda thanks you in advance for your patience and cooperation during this event. He also urges anyone with information regarding criminal activities to call the Police Division’s 24-hour Crime Stopper tip line at 1-877-NWK-TIPS (1-877-695-8477). All anonymous Crime Stopper tips are kept confidential and could result in a reward.
