Meridian Police Special Tactics Group Assists in Arrest Following Hours-Long Incident
On October 28, 2026, at approximately 1:25 p.m., the Ada County Sheriff’s Office ACTION Team and Meridian Police officers responded to the area of S. Andros Way and S. Abaco Way in Meridian to serve an arrest warrant on 62-year-old Steven OSTLUND. OSTLUND was wanted on a no-bond felony warrant issued in May 2018 for failure to appear in drug court.
During the attempted arrest, deputies made multiple announcements directing OSTLUND to exit the residence, but he refused to comply. OSTLUND also began turning on the gas inside the residence, further complicating the situation. Due to his continued noncompliance and the presence of multiple firearms inside the residence, the Meridian Police Department’s Special Tactics Group (STG) was called to assist at approximately 4:00 p.m.
STG personnel deployed chemical agents to facilitate the safe resolution of the incident. OSTLUND was located in a crawl space and taken into custody.
The Meridian Police Department thanks the Garden City Police Department for its support through the combined STG team.
