The Albany Police Department shares this Halloween safety message on Behalf of the Office of Violence Prevention:
A simple check-in can make a difference.
With Halloween approaching, the Office of Violence Prevention is working alongside community organizations to encourage parents, guardians, and mentors to have conversations with the young people in their lives.
Where are you going? Who will you be with? How are you getting home?
These are conversations worth having year-round, especially during busy weekends when young people are gathering throughout our city.
10,000 postcards will be distributed through City departments and community partners as part of this effort.
Thank you to our Violence Prevention Task Force, community organizations, and everyone helping us put prevention into practice.
Keeping our young people safe is a responsibility we share.
