Register for rec basketball & wrestling
Register for rec basketball starting on Nov. 9
Registration for 2027 Recreational Basketball will be open from Monday, Nov. 9, at 5 p.m. through Monday, Nov. 30, at 5 p.m.
This year, the City has created a recreation league for students in 6th through 8th grades to promote fairer, more balanced competition for residents and Hoboken-based students, moving away from school teams. Players will complete a skills assessment, so the Division of Recreation can build balanced teams, with separate boys’ and girls’ divisions focused on skill development, teamwork, and fun.
Players must register and complete one assessment session to be placed on a team. Registrants can select the preferred date and time of the assessment during registration.
Basketball for children in 3rd through 5th grades who live or go to school in Hoboken will remain organized by each school. Players from non-participating schools and those who are homeschooled are also welcome and will be placed on eligible teams.
Practice and game schedules will be announced after registration closes, based on enrollment and facility availability.
Hawks special needs basketball registration will also open on Monday, Nov. 9, at 5 p.m. for those between the ages of 5 and 10 years old and those between 11 and 17 years old. Space is limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis. Registrants are encouraged to sign up early.
Registration for instructional basketball for children in kindergarten through 2nd grade is scheduled to open next month on Monday, Dec. 7, at 5 p.m. This is not a competitive program, rather an instructional program where players learn the fundamentals of basketball.
All registration will be available at https://hoboken.recdesk.com/Community/Program.
Register for wrestling Nov. 9
The City will open registration for wrestling on Monday, Nov. 9, at 5 p.m.
Hoboken Recreation Wrestling with Edge Wrestling welcomes youth ages 6 to 14 of all experience levels, to develop their skills, confidence, focus, and athleticism through age- and skill-based training. There are no matches.
Registration is on a first-come, first-served basis and will close when the program is at capacity.
