Vandalism of Township Road Signs
The Township of Tabernacle is reporting the recent vandalism of multiple Township-owned traffic signs at several intersecting roadways:
Old Indian Mills Road – Stop sign
Fox Chase Road – Stop sign, speed limit sign, and curve warning sign
New Road – Stop sign
Patty Bowker Road – Stop sign
Sooy Place Road – Speed limit sign
The Department of Public Works has replaced all damaged or missing signs to ensure the safety of our community.
Needless to say, this type of damage and complete disregard for public safety could have resulted in someone being seriously injured or worse. Stop signs and warning signs are not decorations. They are there to protect motorists, pedestrians, and everyone traveling our roads. Removing or damaging them puts lives at risk.
THE INVESTIGATION - The New Jersey State Police are actively investigating these incidents. If you were involved, the Township strongly encourages you to come forward and turn yourself in at the New Jersey State Police Red Lion Station. Taking responsibility now is far better than allowing this matter to progress further.
HAVE INFORMATION? - Anyone who witnessed suspicious activity, has home security footage or dashcam video, or has information that may assist investigators is asked to contact: New Jersey State Police – Red Lion Station 609-859-2282
The Township will not tolerate the vandalism or destruction of public property. The cost of replacing these signs falls on our taxpayers, but the potential cost of this reckless behavior could have been far greater. We expect those responsible to take accountability for their actions.
Thank you for your cooperation.
