The Police Department is warning residents of ongoing scams involving individuals impersonating banks, the FDIC, financial intuitions, government agencies, and law enforcement.
Scammers may claim your accounts are compromised and instruct you to withdraw cash, purchase gift cards, transfer funds, or turn money over to a courier for safekeeping.
IMPORTANT REMINDERS:
- No legitimate agency or financial institution will send a courier to collect your money.
- NEVER withdraw or transfer money at the direction of an unsolicited caller.
- NEVER share banking information, PINs, or verification codes.
If you receive a suspicious call, DO NOT engage. Hang up and contact the Police Department.
