Dear Nixle User,
On November 4, 2026 at approximately 8:09 p.m., SMPD officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle believed to have been involved in a gang-related incident earlier in the evening.
The vehicle stopped near the intersection of Broadway and Donovan and a 13-year-old male juvenile immediately fled from the vehicle. Officers pursued the juvenile on foot and observed him drop a handgun as he ran. The juvenile was taken into custody and the handgun was found to be an unregistered, personally manufactured firearm with a loaded magazine.
A male adult and 3 additional male juveniles were also contacted in the vehicle and the adult was found to be in possession of narcotics and paraphernalia.
The juvenile was arrested for firearm-related charges and the adult male was arrested for possessing narcotics and paraphernalia as well as child endangerment. The juvenile was booked into Juvenile Hall and the adult was booked into the County Jail.
