SUMMARY: On November 4, 2026, at 8:53 p.m., deputies assigned to the Yucaipa Traffic Enforcement Division initiated a traffic stop at the intersection of Avenue I and 5th Street, on a gray Honda sedan for a vehicle code violation. The driver, later identified as Alexis Morga, a Highland resident, failed to yield, and a vehicle pursuit ensued.
During the pursuit, Morga entered the westbound I-10 freeway, drove recklessly at a high rate of speed, and committed several vehicle code violations. Morga exited the freeway several times, leading deputies onto surface streets in Redlands, Loma Linda, San Bernardino, and Highland. Morga re-entered the freeway and continued evading law enforcement.
A Sheriff’s Aviation Unit assisted and provided overwatch, allowing deputies to trail Morga from a safe distance. The pursuit continued for approximately 30 minutes and ended at a residence in the city of Highland. With assistance from deputies from the Central and Highland Stations, as well as Sheriff’s Aviation, deputies safely took Morga into custody without incident. At the end of the pursuit, deputies learned Morga's two young children were in the vehicle with him and one sustained minor injuries during the pursuit.
At the conclusion of the investigation, Morga was arrested for California Vehicle Code (CVC 2800.2) - Felony Evading a Peace Officer with wanton disregard for the safety of persons or property, and California Penal Code (PC 273A(A)) - Felony Child Endangerment. Morga was transported and booked into the Central Detention Center and is being held on $50,000 dollar bail amount.
