| Narrative: | |||||
| On October 9th, 2026, deputies assigned to the city of Thousand Oaks responded to a vehicle burglary that had occurred at the Los Robles Trailhead Parking Lot located at the south end of Moorpark Road. Deputies learned the unidentified suspect(s) had unlawfully gained entry into the victim’s vehicle using an electronic device. The suspect(s) took the victim’s credit cards from the vehicle and used them at a local retail store. After the initial report was taken, investigators with the East County Investigations – Property Crimes Unit received the case and immediately noticed the suspects and M.O. matched a series of similar crimes that had occurred in the city of Thousand Oaks. In response to that series of crimes, investigators had placed a trail camera covering the parking lot where this crime occurred. Investigators reviewed footage from the camera and found that it captured the crime occurring and the vehicle the suspects had used to travel to the area and commit the crime. Using the image of the vehicle from the trail camera, investigators searched for images captured by nearby Automated License Plate Recognition cameras (ALPR) and were able to identify the suspect vehicle. On November 2nd, 2026, using multiple investigative resources, investigators learned the suspect vehicle was parked in a trailhead parking lot in the Palos Verdes area. Ventura County Sheriff Investigator’s collaborated with deputies assigned to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department (LASD) – Lomita Station and shared the details of our investigation with them. This collaboration led to LASD stopping the vehicle and arresting the two occupants. The occupants were identified as Lucas Ignacio Acuna Salazar and Anyelo David Cabrera Espinace. Both were arrested by LASD for conspiracy and theft related charges. On November 3rd, 2026, Los Angeles County cited both subjects and scheduled them for release that same day. After learning that both suspects were scheduled for release on the Los Angeles County charges, investigators with the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office drove down to the Lomita Station and took custody of both subjects for the crimes committed in Ventura County. Lucas Acuna Salazar and Anyelo Cabrera Espinace were both transported to Ventura County and booked at the East County Jail on five counts of PC 182 – Conspiracy, PC 459 – Burglary, and PC 530.5 – Identity Theft. Additionally, Acuna Salazar had an outstanding warrant from San Bernadino County for theft related charges. Both subjects have been identified as part of Transnational Organized Crime.
