INCIDENT: Sheriff’s Personnel Under Investigation for Alleged Assault on Trainee
LOCATION: Frank Bland Regional Training Center, San Bernardino
SUMMARY:
On Thursday, November 5, 2026, the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department received complaints forwarded by the California Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) alleging that an academy trainee was physically assaulted by training staff members while participating in training at the Frank Bland Regional Training Center.
On Friday, November 6, 2026, the Sheriff’s Department and the San Bernardino County District Attorney’s Office began a joint criminal investigation into the allegations. The Sheriff’s Department’s Professional Standards Division will be conducting an administrative investigation to ensure compliance with department policy.
Given the nature of the complaint, the personnel involved have been placed on administrative leave pending the completion of the investigation. The Sheriff remains committed to providing a safe training environment for all who choose to join the law enforcement profession.
