Wildfire Update - Armstrong Creek Rd.

Firefighters from multiple departments are on the scene of a wildfire in the Turkey Cove community off Armstrong Creek Road. The NC Forest Service reports the fire has burned 10 acres so far.
Agencies on scene include Woodlawn Fire Department, Pleasant Gardens Fire Department, Ashford North Cove Fire Department, Marion Fire Department, Hankins Fire Department, McDowell County Emergency Management, McDowell EMS, North Carolina Forest Service and the US Forest Service. Crews are actively working to contain the fire. A helicopter is also being used to perform water drops on the fire.
There are no evacuation orders at this time. Residents and motorists should use caution, as drifting smoke may reduce visibility.
