Update on Larceny investigation at Clark Lake

As an update to an earlier press release on larcenies around Clarklake occurring last month, a second suspect has been identified, charged, and arrested.

On September 17, 2015, numerous larcenies from autos and burglaries of garages/out-buildings were reported at approximately 3:25 A.M. An initial suspect was identified, and was located that same morning. Trystin Paul-William Brown, 19, of Blackman Township was arrested at lodged at the Jackson County Jail, and on Friday, September 18, 2015, he was charged and arraigned on a variety of charges, as previously reported.

The investigation continued, and the same day as the initial arrest, the majority of the property stolen in the Clarklake crimes was recovered from an address in Michigan Center. Other stolen property (outdoor power equipment) was recovered from another address in Blackman Township.

A second suspect was identified at that time, and the investigation continued.

On Thursday, October 1, 2015, a warrant request was submitted to the Jackson County Prosecutor’s Office, along with additional investigative reports, seeking a warrant on Matthew Lyle McMillen, 17 years, of Michigan Center. Later that day, McMillen was charged with one count of Larceny from a Motor Vehicle, a 5 year felony.

As McMillen was believed to be out of the area, the warrant was entered into LEIN, and over the past weekend, McMillen was arrested outside of Jackson County. He has since been arraigned on the charge, and is being held on a $10,000 cash or surety bond on this current charge, and he is additionally being held without bond on a probation violation charge, also from Jackson County.

His next court date is set for October 16, 2015.
